Ian Baucom, Spectres of the Black Atlantic. Rereading Gabrielle Roy, Bonheur d'Occasion (The Tin Flute) and Walter Benjamin's Arcades Project. Just read George Elliott Clarke's Trudeau.

What are your five favourite texts?

Two I like a lot are Cien anos de soledad and In the Skin of a Lion. L'Education Sentimental is not so bad either.

What are the top five texts that you find to be the most useful for teaching?

W.E.B. Du Bois, The Souls of Black Folk, Tom King, Medicine River and Green Grass, Running Water, Dionne Brand, "Photograph," Lawrence Hill's The Book of Negroes, Rohinton Mistry, "Condolence Visit."

What texts have you had the most fun researching?

Michael Ondaatje, Coming Through Slaughter, his In the Skin of the Lion, Wayde Compton, 49th Parallel Psalm, Mairuth Sarsfield, No Crystal Stair.

What would you be if you weren't an English professor?

A professor of Comparative Literature or French.
